Where MY Rang At?!!

Last night at the VMA's Beyonce changed my lifeee! That woman has got to be one of thee most innovative performers, & individuals I have ever seen. One would dream the opportunity to meet such an intelligent, classy, gifed, & strong black women. She has reassured her position on my "Most Inspirational" list... right behind KLS of course. ;)

Practice Makes Perfect.....

Random advice....

Aspiring models,

Now as u all know, im NObody's supermodel. In the same boat as you in regards to trying to find my place. However, trying to find my gift is something that im definitely not struggling with anymore. So, here are some tips to help get and/or keep you on your toes. When u have time, search through the pages of "W" magazine, Harper's Bazaar, Vogue (especially) & use what u see in those tearsheets to practice your craft. I used to tear these pages and post them around my mirror... then one by one id stare and mimic until I became comfortable posing as such without having to refer to the photo. This builds range and it keeps you hip on what the industry is up to these days. We are far from the days of posing hand on hip. lol.... Anywhoo.. thats it and thats all... keep practicing.. stretch!! Yoga is on the one for the body as well...

;)

Ventilation...

Please xxcuse me while i vent for a second.....
You know I am just amazed by how contradictory the people of our nation are. Even more so the people in my life. Im not going to speak on anyone's name here but I will address a common misconception about me and my plans and/or goals in life.

See... what you've must first understand is that at the age of 17 I graduated from high school and went off to college. Virginia State University to be exact. This just so happened to be the only school i applied to. I was in love, not interested in studying anything, and eager to finish a semester so that I could move closer to this guy. I had no real dreams of my own and his love was all that inspired me. Anywhoot, to make a long story longer... the relationship ended a month before i went off to college and suddenly was lost. Months fly by and im in the process of finding myself. While on campus I get approached by members of the VSU modeling organization, Kerojo Modeling Agency Ltd.. I audition, why not?... and then... i began modeling. Joined the dance team too! I had no idea how to walk the runway and this family taught me how... part of our audition process was posing on the drop of a dime. Kids would scream, POSE! POSE! POSE!... and we would hit it hit it hit it!! 2 years later I was voted VP of Promotions & Programs... it was my job to search for gigs to book us in and all other things promo. I began searching and auditioning for fashion shows. Landed my first major runway production with DC Fashion Week... skip a few months and im home more than i am in school hitting the runways for NY Fashion Week's Seven on 7th and DC Fashion Week as well. In 2006 a telephone call from my mother changed my life... she asked me was i happy at school. She told me that although its a big deal to my family that I am in college, she wouldnt want me to be there if I really have my heart elsewhere. My mother assured me that I had her support if i wanted to come home and follow my dreams.. whatever they may be at this point. (lol.. i never really had dreams before.) She used to always tell me that I had a light shining within and a gift to share with the world... said i was blessed with talent. Well, knowing in my heart that she was right.. it felt like she had heard my prayers... anyway.. knowing this, i dropped out. I came home and began this hustle HARD. The way i see it... if it doesnt work out, i'll go back. But at least when i have kids one day I can tell them to go out and follow their heart and their dreams because I did it... and i wouldnt change it for the world. Anything other than that would make me a hypocrite. So anyway...It was also in 2006 that I signed with Vishus Entertainment LLC. as their first female rapper. My resume as far as thats concerned runs DEEP. Ive traveled with a hustle-la and spit rhymes with the set... but thats a whole different chapter. & The point of all that is to say... it wasnt until I had my first photoshoot for the label that I experienced being in front of a camera. My pics got big play and anything having to do with modeling I was willing to explore. ANYTHING TASTEFUL AND NON WHOREISH!!... lets make sure we got that part clear..lol.

Ive just been a rolling stone ever since... its now 2009 and my resume is pretty awesome (more NYFW & a Saks 5th Ave. campaign, contract with Style Elite Talent Agency, Spokesmodel for KAS Collection Inc., etc.. etc.) for a model based out of Washington DC. Cuz lawd knows anyone who is NOT Barack gets no respect for trying to establish a career here. Too many hatas.

With this said... Id just like to know what makes some people think that for any second of my life I would be fine settling here and establishing my life in DC. Not that there is anything wrong with it or the people that do but... Man... thats just not me or my focus. I guess because Im big on being the best at everything that i do and because I believe in leaving a lasting impression; many people feel im fixated on what they've tagged as "local celebrity" status... well im not! Im tryna get thee fukk outta here as soon as possible. I believe that the tour does not end here for me and this is only the beginning. I appreciate all of the support Ive been given along the way and I even more appreciate the constant feedback.

you know its true that you can be or do anything you physically put your mind too...
Only I have seen my dreams and in so many ways I plan to live them out... a girl like me cant eat, sleep, or breathe anything other than what lies beneath!! You dont have to settle either... Dont be afraid to take a chance... dont be skeptical if it takes longer than you imagined... when the worries of the world start to leave you feeling pressured... jus remember me... a lil lady just like you.. doing exactly wtf i want to do. Because the last thing i will become is a hypocrite. I promise to look into my future kidz in the eyes and speak clear to their hearts, i'd say "Baby, when you grow up you can be anything in this world that you dream to be."... and im gona mean it, cuz im going to live ... shit im living it now... and hey... if it doesnt work out for me (which it already is).. i'll go back to college.. duHH! (but at least im giving it a try)
